Overview

“Magical Athlete is a chaotic racing game where anything can happen”, Angela Kirkwood was brought in by game-publisher CMYK Games to re-illustrate the cult Japanese party game Magical Athlete, which had been out of print for over a decade. She drew 36 characters — zany archetypes like “Sisyphus,” “Banana” and “Huge Baby” — and the brief invited her to lean on her animation background, ensuring the characters have bold motion, speed lines and kinetic energy.
