Boards of Canada: Inferno

Overview

For Boards of Canada’s highly anticipated album “Inferno”, Robert Beatty created the film for the opening single “Introit / Prophecy at 1420 MHz”, helping to establish the visual identity of the band’s first full-length release in over a decade. Combining analogue textures, distorted broadcast imagery and Beatty’s distinctive graphic language, the film expands the album’s mysterious world and sets the tone for the record’s opening chapter.

Working closely with the band’s vision, Beatty developed a visual approach that feels both familiar and unsettling — blurring the line between found footage, experimental animation and cinematic storytelling.
