Joe Cruz is a visual artist, born in London in 1988. He graduated from Norwich School of Art in 2010 where he specialised in print making.
Cruz is recognised for his pastel portrait series where he juxtaposes found imagery and expressive mark making techniques. His work combines a mixture of techniques and inputs which seem to constantly be jostling for attention. He utilises a variety of office equipment in unorthodox ways, resulting in images that evoke a classical painting aesthetic through contemporary means.
Cruz had his first solo show at Gallery Common in Tokyo in 2018 and recently has completed projects for Hermès, Jacquemus and Comme des Garçons. He also regularly lectures at universities and has run client workshops in London, Paris, Tokyo and LA.
