Man on the Run

Overview

Commissioned by Academy Award-winning director Morgan Neville, Hacking produced a series of mixed media animations linking the narrative and creating a cohesive aesthetic vision that matches the handmade nature of McCartney’s work during the period.

The feature-length documentary charts the formation of the band Wings. Animated sequences by Hacking are woven throughout the film, visually extending Paul McCartney’s narration. The work features Hacking’s highly skilled innovative animation techniques on which he worked closely with long-time collaborators Philippe Tardiff and Michael Enzbrunner.

Man on the Run premiered in cinemas on 13 February 2026, and will be streaming on Prime Video from 27 February 2026.
